Etruscan Art.

The first time I had ever seen the Colosseum was in a movie and I have yet to see this beautiful piece of architecture in Rome. The roman Colosseum in its day was far more outrageous than our movie theaters or performing arts theaters of today. One from our time could only imagine what it was like to watch a show, or the Gladiators fight. I would think it was nothing less than amazing. The attention to detail in the architecture is great. I could look at pictures of this place and only hope that I will be able to visit it one day.

Art of Ancient Egypt.

The portrait of Nefertiti from Akhetaten Dynasty is the picture that caught my interest in this chapter. The attention to detail and the beauty that is emitted through this portrait is amazing. The bright colors used show that she was of importance, by making her stand out even more than the beauty of this portraits structure. Almost makes me wonder is she really did have makeup in that time. Her appearance is flawless. Not only is her beauty displayed in this picture, but her confidence, and composure. A couple of things most women and men in today's society are somewhat lacking.

Chapter Two: Art Of The Ancient Near East

This is a Piece Titled Stele of Hammurabi from 1792-1750BCE. After reading about this piece of historical art the first thing that came to mind was the Law enforcers in our society today. The text states the "Hammurabi was breaking new ground in his attempt to create a society regulated by laws rather than the whims of rulers or officials." That is the main objective for our police force today. To serve and protect. Though many would agree that in certain cities this objective may not seem very evident. But at the end of the day the police and other law enforcers in our society today are the reason many feel safe at night. They put there life on the line day in and day out to make our society a safer place to be in, and those who have no desire to better themselves or only see fit to commit crime or break the laws of the land are without a doubt punished and put away. Hammurabi's way of handling things was to "cause justice to prevail in the land and to destroy the wicked and the evil, that the strong might not oppress the weak nor the strong." Like Hammurabi's our justice system today has the same objective and purpose.

PreHistoric Art in Europe. Blog #2

This piece Titled Figures of a woman and a man, from Cernavoda, Romania, c. 3500BCE., Captured my attention more than any of the other paintings or pieces in this Chapter. I like how the mannerisms of these ceramic figures can be so closely compared to that of the average female or male in our society today. Even more so those in relationships. The artists main intention of the positioning or the overall meaning is unknown and left up for interpretations. Weather this was just an act of boredom or a piece of a story. This piece to me provides a bit of mystery. The male figure is in a position that one would say he is thinking, or worrying. The female looks as though she is admiring her partner, or maybe even worrying as well. Regardless these figures are a display of the intense creativity that they were capable of. Throughout history all the way up into present day there are paintings and photographs of a woman next her man. Adoring and ready to support and love him. Instilling her trust in what ever is to come, and the man either worrying or just thinking towards the future. A lot like the Figures of a woman and a man.

Art that Describes me

This photograph by artist unknown represents my undying support and trust to many if not all of those in my life. I have always been the friend that everyone can rely on or the family member who will always be there. I'm the first to offer someone help if they are in need and I am the last to leave when everybody has walked out.

This piece by Philippe Halsman of Marylin Monroe would represent me as feminine yet strong. My life has had it's share of disappointments and setbacks, but I find it refreshing to focus on things I have successfully accomplished thus far, as well as, all the great opportunities I have to look forward to in the future. I have always enjoyed a good challenge, and I have learned that life is full of them. Getting through these challenges is what will keep me strong in all aspects. At the same time I always keep things classy. I wasn't always a girly girl, but I have found pleasure and satisfaction in getting all dressed up and glamored up from time to time. Other than that I am usually a jeans and T-shirt kind of girl.

This is a piece Titled State of Tranquility by Walfrido Garcia. To me this is what paradise would look like. This painting would represent my peaceful side, and would also represent me as relaxed and content. The beach has always been an escape for me which is why i find this painting fitting. Luckily I have always lived withing driving distance from the ocean, so at any time that I have ever felt overwhelmed or just out of it, I could always go to the beach and sit and just be at peace.

This piece by Leonid Afremov displays love and passion. This piece would describe me as romantic. I think that the light and dark in the painting could be related to the light and dark times in a relationship, but with the right person it's a walk in the park so to speak.

This is a piece by Chris Consani titled Java dreams. This piece not only represents my passion for old Hollywood, but also describes my bubbly and flirtatious side represented by Marylin Monroe in the hot Pink dress. Marylin also displays a confidence which overwhelms the painting making her the one object that stands out the most.
